Miniature Smooth Dachshunds, often simply referred to as “Mini Doxies,” are a smaller version of the standard Dachshund. Dachshunds, in general, have a long and storied history that dates back to the 15th century in Germany. Originally bred for hunting purposes, Dachshunds were developed to track and hunt small game, including badgers and rabbits, which is where their name “Dachshund” comes from, translating to “badger dog” in German.

Over time, Mini Smooth Dachshunds were selectively bred to create a smaller variant of this breed. They share their lineage with their standard-sized counterparts and possess the same distinctive characteristics, including their elongated bodies and short legs.
